PAWS of NE Louisiana's first spay day was hosted in November 2008 by the veterinarians & staff of Monroe Animal Health. This event was a great success - 6 dogs and 18 cats (24 total animals) were spayed or neutered! We could never accomplish our mission without the assistance of these local, caring veterinarians who donated their time and expertise to help reduce pet overpopulation. Hosting a Spay Day goes "above and beyond" and shows how much the Monroe Animal Health Center truly cares about our community and the pets within it.

Our 2nd Spay Day was held at Monroe Animal Health on February 28th. We were especially proud because February is National Spay/Neuter Month! We registered the event with Spay Day USA making PAWS eligible to receive additional funding to provide spay/neuter assistance to low income pet owners. 19 dogs and 24 cats (43 total animals) were spayed or neutered, almost doubling our first spay day totals.

We hope to make Spay Day a regular event in our community. With the help of area veterinarians we can reduce pet overpopulation in Northeast Louisiana!
